Dilema

So yesterday Abbie was in her room and she did a little cough. She was doing her jobs and came out with a very sad look on her face.

Abbie: Momma, I'm too sick to go to school today.
Mom: Oh, yeah-you should probably stop doing your jobs and go lay down.
Abbie: Yeah, and relax so I won't get sicker.
Mom: Yep, go right to bed and stay there all day so you won't get sicker.
Abbie: Or maybe I could just watch TV and lay down on the couch so I won't get sicker.
Mom: Nah, you should really just lay in your bed all day with no toys or books so you won't get sicker, and no Fullers after school.
Abbie: (force cough) Or maybe I just have allergies so I should go to school.
Mom: Yeah, maybe.

But now everytime she gives a little cough she looks at me and says SEE!! told you

It's irritating.

Should I let her stay home today (knowing that its a 3-day weekend so it will be a really long time until my darling is out of the house again?)

No way. Send her to school. She'll forget all about the cough and have some much needed friend time. Plus, isn't it only kindergarten? Just a short time. If she's really sick, it will wear her out and then you can have a break when she comes home too.

You can miss school if you are barfing or have a fever. See if she starts gagging herself. She is awfully cute though. Cough, cough.

That is so funny. Good hardline rule about staying in bed sans entertainment all day!

The school actually has a policy that if they have a fever or vomiting, they should stay home. A cold is not considered sick, so all the coughing kids just go to school and pass it around and around all year.

Hey Heather! It's Alison, I met you at The Roof during the holidays! I've known Brad since Ricks. A long time ago! Anyway, I have finally cleaned my work bag and have found your blog. It's a great blog, just like your husband said. I hope you don't mind if I bookmark and follow along! By the way, your family is darling and everyone was so well behaved!
Somewhere along the line, I watched enough All My Children on sick days to know who Tad, Erica, and Jesse are. I also still know that Stuart and Adam are not the same guy. Keep in mind that the only time I watched that show was when I was sick in elementary school. Let her stay home and catch up on the soaps.

Hope you sent her to school! It's a character-building experience, right?

Oh yay! I'm in your linkity links!
Don't listen to Celia. She sent all her kids to school when they had highly contagious hand foot and mouth. I think she was afraid they might infringe on her naps.

Why I totally rule: How I rediscovered my chi

(In order to fully appreciate this post, you MUST put on the background music. Just click the play from youtube. This has potential to be a longagong post so you might as well enjoy some tunes. I did most of my training with these gentleman blasting in my ear. Vampire Weekend, I love you.) Here's the story with the gory details. Why do you tri? On October 18, 2004 I delivered a 16 week old boy in the same room of the American Fork hospital that I lost one six months earlier. (I get pregnant really easily.) The previous week I had seen the doctor and everything was looking good and right on track so yay for me. While the first one was devastating (a whole other post for a whole other day), it was number 2 that changed me. I was so angry at my body for betraying me and not letting me do what I wanted it to do. I figured I was doing all the "right things" with the taking care of myself so therefore, I would be able to carry the babies to term and everyone would live happily ...

I'll go where you want me to go dear Lord, but Primary?!

Brad took the picture of me teaching GD a year ago. I was not pleased. No pictures. Brad took this picture of Max while I was teaching GD a month ago. I was pleased. Pictures of Max are fine by me. Some important thoughts on my new calling: In the 21 years since I have been in Primary as a merrie miss (apparently they are not called that anymore), I have subbed a handfull of times. It was not a success. One time, while subbing for Brad I went into the class and the boys had escaped out the window. All I saw were a set of feet as the kid was leaping out. Another time, while subbing for Brad I used the tie some kid was using and irritating everyone around him with and TIED HIM TO THE CHAIR. Another time, while subbing, the kid sliced his finger on the chair (not the same kid and he was not trying to escape my tying him up.) and ended up in the ER. (and it so happens that his mom is my 2nd counselor. I think that's funny.) I really really really loved teaching Gospel Doctrine. I hope ...

I am not sure if he is showing off his new tie he got for Christmas? He is a handsome little guy!
