How well do my kids know me?

I found this on a friend's blog and thought it would be something I would treasure. Or hate. My comments are in red 1. What is something your mom always says to you. Abbie: Abbie, go clean your room NOW! Amelia: I need to clean the bathrooms all day and I need to right now! Their life is hard. What no “I love you?” 2. What makes your mom happy? Abbie: When I do the dishes and set the table without even asking. Amelia: How about make my bed or clean my room? True. 3. What makes your mom sad? Abbie: When I’m at school always Amelia:When we don’t clean our room Love Abbie's answer. 4.How does your mom make you laugh? Abbie: when she tells jokes and stories when I was little. Amelia: We do jumping on the bed then fall and spin around. shh. don't tell daddy. 5.What was your mom like as a child? Abbie: I don’t know!. Amelia: Ah. I don’t know. I was super cool. 6. How old is your mom? Abbie: 102. Giggle. Hahahahahaha Amelia: is she 6? no 5. somewhere in between more like it. 7. Ho...

Parents at Recess

We have some lovely friends who live across the field from us who come once week at night to watch movies and TV shows. They call our line, we put their house on mute speaker, I make snacks, and we fire up the projector. We have been doing this through 2 pregnancies, 7 kids "in bed", and we have enjoyed many late nights. Here is a sampling of some of the shows we have watched together. Love this show. Can't wait to start season 2. Just finished episode 2. Has some real potential. Lasted one season. I hear it gets better but guess what? we don't care. I was the only one who had seen this and when I first watched it 15 years ago it was way creepier. Now it was mostly laughable. The best show ever! Could watch over and over and over again, and we do. We usually stay up way too late chatting and getting all caught up. One morning after I found this on the stairs. The girls had smelled the popcorn, written a message by the light of their princess clocks, and made a paper a...

If I've learned one thing from Brandon Mull

...it's that you have to be very careful with magical creatures like leprecauns. We caught a lil' Irish lass with quite a temper. Check out what he did to the trap! He was definately caught then busted his way out. We are guessing from the charred edges he used some sort of a bomb device. Fiesty little thing! Abbie was so irritated she threw the trap in the garbage (twice). She said "This is the worst luck day of my whole life!!" We all had our heart set on finding some gold. He also tipped over chair on the deck, peed in the toilet and didn't flush (the horror), and took Abbie's headband. (He probably wanted to make a big mess in the girl's room but figured they wouldn't notice much of a difference.) And the Irish Steel Cut Oatmeal Abbie made last night?! Not only was the crock pot turned off and it never cooked but when we finally did cook it in the microwave it turned green! (and apparently the kiwi were especially sour this morning) Lucky for the l...

Making a Leprechaun Trap

In order to trap a magical creature you need to be very sneaky. Be liberal with the green markers and green glitter pens Details are important! Use this opportunity to practice your diamond and square shapes. Practice the trap door with rocks and frown mightily when mom suggests you test the effectiveness of the trap on petshops and barbies. Make trick gold and place it over the trap door. It helps to make a welcome sign. Construct a ladder Smile and cross your fingers you catch a leprechaun

Happy Pi Day!

I appreciate and welcome all excuses for a party, and especially all excuses to eat pie. So I threw a Pie Party to celebrate Pi day (3.14). Good times! Here are some of the pie-rticipants. My banana cream pie with toasted almonds and coconut. Yes I piped the whipped cream so I could control the squiggles. What of it? Barretts and their Key Lime Wonder Wooley's with their Blueberry Cream Arnolds with their Ice Cream Pie (Brad's favorite) Pi symbols were painted on all the kids faces Guernsey's with their Delicious Care-A-Mel Apple Their was a great variety of pie and people. Can't wait to do it next year!

Max is a gamblin' man

Cuz that child is surely gamblin' with his life. I left him alone in the kitchen while I went upstairs to do my biznis. He pushed a chair to the counter found the only box of sweet Samoa crack and helped himself. My plan was to eat one a day, not sharing, and stretching the box out as long as I could. He thwarted my plans and certainly did not savor the taste as I would have. If I kiss his chocolately lips would it be the same? what if I just grabbed the half eaten one from his fingers? The blasphemy of leaving the Samoas on the floor. I found half eaten ones all over the house. thanks for making me less fat, Max.

Toma la leche!

I had a sweet Argentina flashback this week. The kids had already eaten lunch, but were still a little cold from walking home from preschool. I whipped up some hot chocolate and remembered many cold afternoons and seeing chubby hands clutching mugs of hot chocolate. They were cold, drippy, and adorable. It made me smile. It was very de ja vu and a little surreal to have my own set of chubby hands clutching their own mugs of hot chocolate. Now if only I could my hands on some Terrabusi Alfajores because I am seriously jonesing for some.

I got a haircut...

and I am a fan. Did you know I went 5 days last week without combing or washing it? goodbye stupid pony tail.

My 3 year blogiversary.

Is this month. I don't know what I will do to celebrate. I have some ideas, but we'll see. Some thoughts: #1. I like my blog a whole lot better since I stopped worrying about "who is out there" watching. #2. I read like 100+ blogs, but I comment on exactly 0 lately. I'm a jerk-face. #3. When blogging becomes something I dread doing, I take a break. No big deal. But I still read others. #4. Facebook helps me connect with my private bloggers. If you are private, you are dead to me. (with the exception of like 3). I just don't like the extra step. #5. I'm not blogging lately because I am obsessed with this blog . They can be a little naughty and raunchy sometimes and some of them are so clearly fake, but it is mostly a great little time suck for me. see more pwn and owned pictures or how about this one see more pwn and owned pictures and this one see more pwn and owned pictures I find I am walking around all day muttering laundry fail, Walmart fail, dinner fa...

Cue the Journey CD

Everytime I walk into my front door and pass my emerging bulbs I hear "Don't Stop Believin'" in my head. Spring. I know you're comin'. Just hard to believe it when it's snowing outside. Sing it Steve.

I hate cereal on Sunday

On Sundays we have two breakfasts: one around 8:30 and one two hours later before church. On one or both I invite the kids to go downstairs to the basement to choose cereals. For some reason everytime we eat rice krispies somehow they all land on my floor. Abbie calls it "The curse of Sunday krispies". I call it "Don't leave the mess clean up till after church because it will make you crazy to try to clean it later krispies." messy. At least we have a dog named Max to clean it up.

Catching Up

So the OctoMom finds time to blog. What is my problem? Today out of nowhere Amelia says Hey Mom! We forgot to eat gratefrit today!! (like this is something that we do all the time) I am glad the girl can appreciate a good citrus
