(Purging the guilt from my soul...) My blogging friend Chi Girl (incidentally are you on facebook chi? Friend me would you? Search my first name then H*zen or Daniel*on. Elizabeth down under, same goes to you. And you Val. And everyone else.) gave me an award a while *cough cough* ago. I am not a very good receipient because I couldn't get past the seven random things about myself. So I sort of shelved it. But felt incredibly guilty whenever I thought about it. I figured after four years of blogging, it's all pretty much out there right? In any event, here goes. 1. Oh, how I love the TV. In college, I majored in media studies and found that although terribly unmarketable in the workplace, it was so fun to *HAVE* to watch tv for homework. Awesome Sauce. 2. I hate to be cold. It might have something to do with living in Rexburg, Logan and the Patagonia. I left for my mission in the spring of 1996. So I went to school in Logan: Winter, arrived in southern Argentina: Winter, had on...

A few weeks ago I woke up to this... It was not a welcome sight, per se but it was slightly beautiful I spent the early morning switching out the summer clothes for the winter I probably shouldn't have bothered with this child, because he prefers shorts no matter what the weather says.

When I was little I used to love to throw the tennis ball against the garage. This behavior was definately verboten. (while I was writting the post I asked my dad why? he said "because it made noise and it was annoying to hear" and apparently it made a mark on the paint. And it caused the screws to get loose. I am doubting that theory but anywhoo.) My house, my mortgage, my rules. Max. kick the ball to your heart's content.

For Halloween this year Amelia wanted to be a Rodeo Princess (thanks Strawberry Days Parades). Her choice was bittersweet for me because she has never really been into the whole "princess" scene. I'm pretty sure she's never watched Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty. She loved the glittery fake eyelashes and the curly hair, but I'm sure she would have been just as happy with jeans and a super hero cape.

Getting called out by Abbie last night is turning into a common occurrence. It seems I have yet to post her first day of school picture. Whoops. Its like I am turning into my sister Heidi (oh SNAP! just kidding Heid, love ya!) So, Abbie, here is your first day of school picture post. Perhaps I can get around to Halloween pictures by January.

Sometimes at the end of the day I turn a little half-a**ed. I don't attack teeth brushing or clean rooms with the same gusto they probably deserve. (If they step on something or trip or the sugar bugs go to town, then ha ha.) When I put the kids to bed if they come out I will just ignore them and pretend they don't exist rather than lose my head over their noncompliance. This Mama's boy followed me back downstairs while I "finished the dishes" (tried to click stuff of our DVR. It's amazing how ruthless I am when we get up to 85%.) He fell asleep on the stairs. Brad stumbled on him and frightened him so he peed himself (Max not Brad). I would have left him there all night, but the pee was just a little too pathetic. But I am really that lazy at the end of the day I considered it.

I live in an incredibly beautiful part of the country. With that beauty comes a lot of wack a doos that I like to think I am better than (ahem, I am). Like remember how today I went to Costco and lingered a little too long because I was hoping that one of the Sister Wives would be there buying celery for her douchey husband (singlular husband, plural wife). My friend Carrie saw them at Costco last week and I am obsessed with a sighting. Oh and I voted. But I feel like poop about the system thanks to last week's This American Life.

Might as well put up the tree, because ya know, it will be here before I know it. Thanks for the memories October 2010! Don't let November trip you on your way out.

A word from our sponsors

Hello everyone... I'll keep this brief so no one will fall asleep Life is really good... but things do tend to get a bit hectic And blogging is a bit of a chore and perhaps sort of a bore So I am doing the yearly November challenge. Let's see if we can catch up together shall we?

Children of the Corn

Ich. How scary was that movie?

Abbie's first quilt

She burned through her sewing machine and needed to finish the project with mine. She has a really good eye for patterns and what goes well together and although she spent a lot of time picking out her mistakes, I could not have been more proud of her determination. I'm considering handing over all my quilts I never finished and have her just do them for me.

Amelia in the Middle

Amelia, You have been in kindergarten for almost six weeks and I loathe how much you have grown and matured lately. You still have your fair share of silly, like when you told me last night you couldn't change your underwear because "there was all kinds of Abbie's crap in your drawers" and you will inevitably fart when you laugh too hard causing you to laugh/toot even harder and more. Like your sister, you are a great one for gossip and telling me what's going on in the hood and you report to me who did what on the bus, and who did what in class and the playground. Your heart has barely healed from Kyle's move this summer and although others have come... (Jacob said when we are six, we have to kiss; Logan waits patiently for you on the front porch while you finish your hundred important projects, Steven? Jefferson? Liam-who you call Lame) but you still get giggly and giddy when I mention Kyle Kyle Crocodile. Your mother's wise decision to change you to aft...

Max's First Day of School

Please ignore the dark socks, dark shoes look. We can say he was channeling the inner Grandpa Gary in him, but really his sandals, flip flops, and other shoes were in the backseat of the car sitting in the Mozy parking lot. So church shoes. My two sons. Horray for Anne and her mad shopping skills and securing a shirt for twinner twinner chicken dinner Max. Don't worry. I thought about that look all day long. Seems the "transition" preschool we had him in this summer didn't exactly prepare him enough to be away from his mama. Please. Enlarge the picture, then judge me as a horrible mom. One of my boys yelled "I love school!!" the whole way home. My other boy flopped on the ground and didn't speak to me for a half an hour. He phased out a little with DiDi and his Cars collection.

Max

Max: You go to school twice a week with your cousin Haze, and friends Isaac and Huke. I asked if you sit with them at circle time and you said, "No, I hike, Camdy". Much of your school experience has revolved thus far around your quest for "Camdy" and you reported that sometimes she says "Hey Max, heave me ahone". You love to play outside with your sister's friends Hogan and Be-entzy and Fatcher and they are very sweet to let you tag along (mostly). Your world still revolves very much around Cars and you switch from playing with the Piston Cup cars (he did what in a cup?) which includes replays of the crash scene with Leak Less, Shifty, Octane Gain, Spare O Mint and the more well known Cwick Hicks and Whitening McQueen and Mr. la Keen. You have seen the movie so many times you replay certain scenes over and over complete with your interpretation of the soundtrack. You also play Rabee-a-tor Speengs which includes Mia and Tia, Flo, Hank Halstrom, Ramon (...

A Sweet Memory kind of a Day

Sundance, Chair Lift, Hiking, Scenery, Lollipops.
